~The Imagination of a Teacher~

Hi All!

I got some questions for all you wonderful elementary teachers! Where on Earth do you come up with all these ideas? Is it something you "learn" in college? Or could it be something you just pick up after being in the classroom for a little while?

I read everyone's blog and seriously wonder if I have what it takes to be a teacher. I mean, I really (really, really, really) want to teach lower elementary, but I don't know that I have the imagination it takes, or the imagination I see in all of you. When I see some of your things, my brain kinda starts working, and I can come up with a few couple of things that seem like the younger kids might like. But mostly, I almost have to study your games and packets before the imagination even starts heating up.

So, all in all, do you learn it as a subject in college maybe, or do you just kinda pick it up once you start teaching?

Blogversary?

Can you believe it? I can't either! It's been a year since I posted here the first time. Now, granted, I haven't posted as much as most bloggers, but I'm coming around. I just feel like I don't have as much to blog about as all you other wonderful "teacher bloggers". But I love "blog stalking" each and every one of you! Y'all have given me tons of things to look forward to when I get my own classroom!

I know most everyone includes some sort of giveaway or freebie for their blogversary, but I have quite managed how to make anything worth giving away yet. I'm still in school lol! So this post is mainly just me saying its the first anniversary of my blog. I'm not even sure yet if this blog will even still be here after I get a classroom! But we shall see!

I hope everyone has a wonderful day!!

~August Currently~

Well hi there everyone!
I don't know about you, but I feel like July had to be the longest month so far this year. I seriously didn't think this month was ever gonna end.
Don't laugh at me! That's not nice!! lol

Anyway! I'm linking up with Farley over at Oh Boy 4th Grade for this month's Currently!
I'm really enjoying these and wish it was a little more often. Ok, maybe not. I don't really know! lol

Anyway....on to the actual point of this post!!

So, I'm listening to Avatar because my little man loves this show. Don't ask me why, he just does! He likes Ninja Turtles more, but its not on! I don't care too much shows like Spongebob, so I guess if he wants to watch Avatar, there's nothing wrong with it! Right? I mean, if you know something about this show that should keep a 3rd grader from watching it, please, please let me know!

The weather here in Alabama is amazing right now!! Its August and I don't sweat every time I walk outside! Its just great! I wish it could be like this every summer! Ha Ha right?!?!

I'm thinking I don't want to go into work tonight, because I didn't get a whole lot of sleep today. Night shift is horrible if you don't sleep well! But, hey, its Friday!!! My last night until Monday!! So I can do this!! Plus I'll have friends to help keep me going strong!! I can do this! No, I WILL do this!!

I know I say this in every Currently, but I really really really want to get back into college to hurry up and become a teacher! Y'all have got to be getting tired of me talking about it, so I promise, right now, to try my best not to post anything else about it! I promise to TRY, not to actually not talk about it, because I honestly don't know if I can do that! I'm gonna try my best though! lol

I'm thinking a need a really good massage because I'm so stressed! I feel like a nice, long, soothing massage would help me some! Either that, or a child-free, work-free, chaos-free vacation! Nothing but me and the beach. Or me and the mountains. Anything! lol Just some good alone, away time!

I'm guessing that 1st day you and kids is aimed at teachers. Like, what y'all will be doing on the first day of school. I can't really answer that one! I know what I'll be doing the first day my buddy goes back.....sleeping baby, sleeping! I will have 10p-6a the night before, and be going back that night! It will be so awesome to be able to sleep with no interruptions!! lol I LOVE the school year! I sleep while he's gone, and wake up and spend the rest of the afternoon/evening with him! So I still get a good amount of sleep time and family time! Its a win/win right?!?!

Anyway, I'm done! I've ranted long enough! Please don't think I'm too ridiculous! I just like to talk, that's all! lol! Well, I hope everyone has a wonderful rest of the day!!

Back in Classes

Hi Everybody!
I just got some amazing news! I'm so excited that I just couldn't keep it to myself!
I have talked with GCU and found out that if I can get them $1405 by August 15, 2014, I will be re-enrolled in classes! I've spoken to my dad and my grandmother, and they are both planning, right now, ways to help me get the money! I'm serious!! I may be in classes again withing 6 weeks!
Once I get back in classes, I'm probably going to take one or two classes with them, and then transfer over to Liberty University! And with them, I can get my BS in Early Childhood Education in four years, and get my MAT in Elementary Interdisciplinary Studies as a fifth year option!!!!
I mean, SERIOUSLY!!! I am beyond ecstatic and cannot wait!!
Now that that is behind us, I do have a question for all of you! I will be get my MAT from Liberty, but I want to be able to proudly say that I am a graduate of Auburn University!! I live about an hour and half, possibly two hours from the Auburn campus. So there is no way I can take classes with them except online. The only degree in education that offer online is M.Ed in Elementary Education.
Would it be stupid for me to receive my MAT from Liberty and then turn around and work for an M.Ed from Auburn? Or should I wait and get a Doctorate's degree? I would absolutely LOVE any information/opinions you have to offer!
Thanks so much for reading and leaving your thoughts!!!

Guest Blogger?

Ok, we all know that I am not a teacher yet, not even a student teacher yet, but I am following all of y'all to learn things while I'm in school.
I have seen that several of you have guest bloggers on your blog and I have wanted to have a guest a couple of times as well! I just didn't know if that was a "teacher only" thing or if I could have someone special as well!
I'd love your opinions and if you'd be willing to do it for me, please let me know!

Opinons on Common Core

Alright my teacher friends! I've got some questions for you! I've heard some good and bad about the CCSS. I've never actually seen or heard teachers' opinions about it, so I'm turning to you to ask.
I've recently looked through my son's workbook from last year (second grade) and didn't really see anything I was too worried about. I've heard people talking about the Federal Dept of Edu is somehow pushing sex edu and other things on the elementary students through Common Core.
I've looked through some of your blogs and see that most of you don't see anything wrong with it, but that there is a few of you who seem to be only teaching it because you have to. So, with that said, I would LOVE your opinions and thoughts. Have you found anything about Common Core that makes you uncomfortable? Are there things in Common Core that you really don't want to teach? Would you teach things differently if you could without losing your job or license?
Please bombard me with comments about your thoughts!!! Thank you so much in advance!!
