Back in Classes

Hi Everybody!
I just got some amazing news! I'm so excited that I just couldn't keep it to myself!
I have talked with GCU and found out that if I can get them $1405 by August 15, 2014, I will be re-enrolled in classes! I've spoken to my dad and my grandmother, and they are both planning, right now, ways to help me get the money! I'm serious!! I may be in classes again withing 6 weeks!
Once I get back in classes, I'm probably going to take one or two classes with them, and then transfer over to Liberty University! And with them, I can get my BS in Early Childhood Education in four years, and get my MAT in Elementary Interdisciplinary Studies as a fifth year option!!!!
I mean, SERIOUSLY!!! I am beyond ecstatic and cannot wait!!
Now that that is behind us, I do have a question for all of you! I will be get my MAT from Liberty, but I want to be able to proudly say that I am a graduate of Auburn University!! I live about an hour and half, possibly two hours from the Auburn campus. So there is no way I can take classes with them except online. The only degree in education that offer online is M.Ed in Elementary Education.
Would it be stupid for me to receive my MAT from Liberty and then turn around and work for an M.Ed from Auburn? Or should I wait and get a Doctorate's degree? I would absolutely LOVE any information/opinions you have to offer!
Thanks so much for reading and leaving your thoughts!!!

Guest Blogger?

Ok, we all know that I am not a teacher yet, not even a student teacher yet, but I am following all of y'all to learn things while I'm in school.
I have seen that several of you have guest bloggers on your blog and I have wanted to have a guest a couple of times as well! I just didn't know if that was a "teacher only" thing or if I could have someone special as well!
I'd love your opinions and if you'd be willing to do it for me, please let me know!

Opinons on Common Core

Alright my teacher friends! I've got some questions for you! I've heard some good and bad about the CCSS. I've never actually seen or heard teachers' opinions about it, so I'm turning to you to ask.
I've recently looked through my son's workbook from last year (second grade) and didn't really see anything I was too worried about. I've heard people talking about the Federal Dept of Edu is somehow pushing sex edu and other things on the elementary students through Common Core.
I've looked through some of your blogs and see that most of you don't see anything wrong with it, but that there is a few of you who seem to be only teaching it because you have to. So, with that said, I would LOVE your opinions and thoughts. Have you found anything about Common Core that makes you uncomfortable? Are there things in Common Core that you really don't want to teach? Would you teach things differently if you could without losing your job or license?
Please bombard me with comments about your thoughts!!! Thank you so much in advance!!

July Currently

I love that I can do this now! It's picking up my posts, as well as my blogging friends! I love it!
I have to say thank you to Farley for letting a student participate in this wonderful event once again!!

Listening: I don't have music playing, but my wonderful little boy is watching the Three Musketeers in the living room!
Loving: I really don't think I would change anything right now! I love the way my life is and I don't wnat anything to be different!
Thinking: I need to go back to school apparently, since I don't know how to spell finish lol! But really thinking I need to finish so I can get busy on my dream job!!
Wanting: I really would love to have my own classroom, decorated the way I want it, with all my lovely students to help make it messy every day! But then help to clean it up as well! lol
Needing: Other than finishing school, the only thing I really need is a new wardrobe! All of my clothes are getting a tad bit too big for me, as well as out dated!!
4th Plans: If I can get enough sleep and wake up in time, my plans for the 4th are to go to my excellent Grandmother's house. My dad will be smoking "pig's butt" is what he said lol. And the whole family will be there! I don't think I will be able to participate in any of the fireworks :(

July and August are always good months for my family. We tend to be able to do more things as a family then! So I'm hoping this month will be full of family get togethers! That's one of the good things about living in the south!
